Glossop Rugby Union Football Club is committed to safeguarding the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults in the sport. All children, young people and vulnerable adults are entitled to protection from harm and have the right to take part in sport in a safe, positive and enjoyable environment.


This Policy statement is based on the following principles:


  •   The welfare of the child, young person or vulnerable adult is paramount.
  •  All participants regardless of age, gender, ability or disability, race, faith, size, language or sexual identity, have the right to protection from harm.
  •   All allegations, suspicions of harm and concerns will be taken seriously and responded to swiftly, fairly and appropriately.
  •   Everyone will work in partnership to promote the welfare, health and development of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
  •   The interests of those who work or volunteer with children, young people and vulnerable adults will be protected.


Jean Seaborn  (Safeguarding Officer) has been involved with Glossop RUFC for the past 7  years and she has 2 sons who play for the club, one in the under 10s and the other in the colts. Jean's husband David, is also one of the coaches for the colts and has played rugby for various clubs over a number of years, so rugby plays a significant role in her family life.


In her professional life, Jean has been a Lead Safeguarding Officer for over 18 years and she will bring a considerable amount of experience in the role as the Club's Safeguarding Officer.
